The Strakonice Burghers’ Brewery (Měšťanský pivovar Strakonice, a.s.) is the last brewery in the Czech Republic to still be owned by a town. The tradition of beer brewing has been linked to the rich history of the Otava River region since 1649.

The brewery makes beer in the traditional way using exclusively Czech ingredients from parts of Moravia and the Žatec area. Unpasteurized Strakonice beer is a high quality product that appeals to its consumers because of its unusual color and taste. The uniqueness of this golden beverage also lies in the fact that Dudák from Strakonice is brewed by a woman – brewer mistress Dagmar Vlková.

Dudák beer from Strakonice has been recognized both domestically and internationally for its high quality. The brewery’s selection can boldly compete with large breweries. However, it also provides a unique experience for true beer connoisseurs who can enjoy interesting beer specialties such as beers with higher degrees and beer sect. A recent addition to the selection is “Otavský zlatý” (Otava Golden Beer), a beer that was awarded silver in the “2010 Beer of the Czech Republic” contest while still in its infancy. Our excellent semi-dark Klostermann beer won in the semi-dark beer category in Žatec at the beginning of September 2010. The tasting contest was held during the Žatec Hops Harvest Festival. This year, we have prepared a number of surprises and new items for our customers.

The brewery is a permanent member of the South Bohemian Chamber of Commerce.

In 2011, the Strakonice Burghers’ Brewery is supporting Czech DIY’s and has entered into a media partnership with the Czech Handyman Internet portal. Historically, we have supported the local “Dudák District Cup” football event. All Czech Cup matches are labeled “Otavský zlatý Czech Cup”.

Dudák beer can be purchased throughout our retail network and in our brewery shop that is open from Monday through Saturday. On weekdays, business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In addition to delicious beer, you can also buy various gifts displaying the brewery’s logo.
